The Orchestra Pit

(Friday the 26th of April)

It's April and Scaledown is blooming. blooming what? well, you'll have to come along and decide for yourself, and why wouldn't you when we have this rather wonderful bill to spring on you:

the NJE - a/k/a the Near Jazz Experience, comprising Terry Edwards, Simon Charterton and Mark Bedford - prepare to be taken to the brink and dragged back by your dancing heels.

Bob Constant & the Goodbye Horses - Bob and the boys are back once more to clatter your senses... beefy of heart and shot full of soul, wonky pop of the highest order.

Portia Winters - Portia brings her unique magic to the songscape of Scaledown. She returns to treat our ears with her intelligent, expressive creativity. Welcome back Portia, we look forward to experiencing your vocal experiments.

Cos Chapman - Cos will be playing 'prepared guitar' and electronics, using the guitar as a sound generating source. We will be listening intently, possibly with our hands touching our chin, be-Cos we are serious about music.

Jazz Thali - Combining traditional Indian music with Western Jazz, Jazz Thali feature Harvir Sahota on tabla and Adrian Northover on saxophone. Expect an exciting and intoxicating fifteen minutes of scaledown performance!

Sue Lynch & Ruth Marshall - Playing Sax and Violin respectively, scaledown looks forward to Sue and Ruth's intricate and empathetic improvising with the possibility of vocals thrown it at a moments notice too!

++ of course, our regular news feed courtesy of Jude Cowan Montague.

(N.B. Sexton Ming has had to postpone his Scaledown debut - hope to see him here soon).

Suggested arrival time is 7pm, for a 7.30pm departure into a time of your life you will never get back.
