(Friday 29th January 2016)
The Orchestra Pit presents the first scaledown event of 2016. The Christmas sack may now lay slack and empty on the cold ground but the big daddy sack of scaledown remains warm and full. If you turn up at 7.30pm of the clock for the 8pm start, you will see the scaledown sack burst open with the contents of wonder which are in no particular order:
KAY GRANT and ARMOREL WESTON- Gershwin Un-sung - The supple vocal stylings of Kay Grant and the velveteen tones of Armorel Weston come together to cook up a free flowing, harmonic stew of favourite songs with spicy surprises, giving new flavour to old chestnuts.
BEACH BULLIES - Obscurist he-said/she-said bedsit pop by the Beach Bullies, a project of songwriter James A. Smith, ably assisted by Jill Fricker. Back in the '80s they recorded one full-length LP - 'We Rule The Universe', featuring alternating vocals, a stripped-down aesthetic and minimal arrangements. Now re-released by Manufactured Recordings of Brooklyn, NYC, the Bullies are back... .
SKOPJE - haunting, ethereal, acoustic sounds from the cultural attaché of Watford, previewing songs from the album 'The Long Cedar Road' - currently reclining in the mastering suite .
MEDETAYA SHISTERS - KAZUMI TAGUCHI is joined by ,Yoko Nishimura and Nao Nagai. Together they are "Medetaya Shisters", meaning auspicious sisters.
CATHY FLOWER and MARCELLO PATRUNO - Cathy Flower Poet for Life brings us new material from her third poetry pamphlet ‘There is a Tune’ with the aid of the magical trumpet player Marcello Patruno.
As ever, it is FREE! Come and hear/see the scaled down performances. DOORS OPEN AT 7.30 PM of the clock. FIFTEEN MINUTES PER ACT! Come along to:
