presents
Scaledown #116
Friday 4th March 2016

The Orchestra Pit presents a jamboree bag of March musical merriment for the first spring scaledown of the year. No eggs or hares here, only a loving selection of willing artists who will perform for you in no particular order:

ANGUS STRACHAN - International award winning singer/songwriter and gifted lyricist performing a mini-Song-Cycle of monologues and songs called “Lucky-Unlucky Man”.

PANDORA'S DIARY - Boho world folk project with Maya on flute, Aletta on washboard and Pandora on guitars and vocals - currently completing a collaborative music project recorded and filmed in the rainforest of Sumatra, concrete jungle of London and the speakeasies of New Orleans.

SARER SCOTTHORNE - Bristol based feminista * poet * martial artist Sarer brings her words (and moves?) to grace the hallowed carpet.

PIPER'S SON - We welcome back Piper's Son ahead of the release of LP #2 - 'Who Started This?'... "effortlessly combining the wistful, art-pop sensibilities of a 21st century Kevin Ayers with a decent smattering of African-Highlife infected rhythms, avant-poeticism and much more besides", according to Resonance FM's Dexter Bentley, and he knows his onions.

JOEY HERZFELD AND HIS SO-CALLED FRIENDS - Having recorded previously for Scaledown's associated label imprint The Orchestra Pit Recording Co, Joey is back with a new band and new album airing their ‘Darkly comic and melodic little songs for your horror and amusement’ .... they'll be watching you watching them.... so watch it.

MORE BAD TIMES - George Gargan - frontman of Former Utopia and head honcho of Damnably Records joins forces with Rolling Stone photojournalist/The Pop Group backing vocalist - Chiara Meatelli, for humorous tales about Italian Reggae, Crazy Trainers, Chilli Linguine and some impeccable cover choices.

TSK! - TSK! is a project comprising IRIS EDERER(voice) and DAVID O'CONNOR (baritone saxophone) mixing interpretation of song and improvisation in equal or unequal measure.

As ever, it is FREE! Come and hear/see the scaled down performances. DOORS OPEN AT 7.30 PM of the clock. FIFTEEN MINUTES PER ACT! Come along to:
