OP5 - Blurt - 7" Single

op5

Ted Milton – poet, saxophonist and puppeteer, formed Blurt in 1979. The repetitious and infectious grooves of solid robotic drumming and minimalist guitar patterns, topped with wild bursts of free form sax and dramatically demonic vocals form their inimitable trademark.

The double ‘A’ release ‘Cut It!’ / ‘Hat’ is the first recorded Blurt offering in many years. ‘Cut It!’ is a hi hat ridden tribal rhythm with chainsaw guitar which awaits two saxophones blowing furiously like animals in night fog; ‘Hat’ brings you robotic grooves and urgent warped guitar. Ted Milton hisses over his frantic blowing, thus providing a succinct 2 minutes of energy.

Mr Milton is joined by Steve Eagles on ever-present guitar, and the smart and tightly packed rhythm is supplied by Bob Leith (whose tub thumping skills belong also to cult quirk-meisters the Cardiacs).

The band will be touring in Europe throughout September, playing club dates and festivals, before returning to the UK for a special Orchestra Pit night to celebrate this latest slab of vinyl.
