Friday 17th April
Those who performed at the Fiftieth Scaledown (in no particular order):
Now - Now peddle a particularly quirky brand of pop music peppered with Cellos and antique synthesisers. Their last performance at Scaledown was an electrifyingly intimate a cappella one so we look forward to seeing what they get up to this time round.
Verse Chorus Verse - VCV is the latest incarnation built to propel Julian Simons ethereal songwriting. Normally they perform as a power trio with a post rock, rifftastic sound so it will be interesting to see how they scale down.
Blowpipes - Super brass trio comprising of Paul Taylor (Trombone Poetry), Katarzyna Kuchnicka, and Matthew Benson. Blowpipes offer improvisation and composition covering the traditional, the contemporary, and the jazz.
Jeff Cloke and Dave Draper - Fresh from last months scaledown, Jeff Cloke (reson8 and live sampling) returns to scaledown to create layers of sound with Dave Draper on effects and guitar.
Maggie Gordon Walker - Comedy for a change as Maggie brings her self help character Mary Christmas to scaledown to lecture the audience.
Gagarin - one man sonic explorer Graham Dowdall moves between grimey beats, noise and floaty atmospheres to create sonic vibes full of melody and glitchy abstract rhythms using drumpad, sampler and fx set-up.
Twothirteen TV - hello Earth, hello London. presenting the first ever outside broadcast from Twothirteen TV...indoors. Ivor Kallin and John Bisset are your hosts for what promises to be one of the televisual treats of the year.
